Finally, some good news for smokers. For all those still stoically puffing away on their death sticks, they may be intrigued to learn that research from the University of Athens suggests that electronic cigarettes may also cause damage to a person’s lungs.
Previously touted as a harmless alternative to tobacco cigarettes and an optimum way to quit smoking, this research claims that e-fags may cause airway resistance in users. Who’d a thunk it?
Of course, contracting one of the many forms of cancer or coronary heart disease for which smoking is directly responsible is far and away a more pressing concern for smokers, so if a user is genuinely concerned about their health, giving up smoking altogether is the only course of action with guaranteed health benefits.
Not smoking electronic cigarettes also obviates the need to explain 20 times a day to irate waiters, bar staff and fellow train passengers that it’s perfectly OK to use them indoors and that there is no danger from passive smoking. That gets old quickly. At least with real fags a user knows and owns their place in the world – outside on the pavement, in all weathers, like the addicted social deviant they are.
E&T covered the technology of e-cigarettes in a feature last year.

E-cigarettes contain nicotine and are therefore harmful to the smoker/user that is beyond doubt. Compared with a regular cigarettes though, they do cut out a large number of toxic chemicals and as there are other nicotine replacement therapies, they cannot be discounted on that basis alone.
The article you linked to is fairly typical in this day and age. It dismisses one product (e-cigarettes) referencing WHO (when you read the article WHO are no making any statement about e-cig, the article only implies this) and the few medical facilities that are quoted as having performed research have published inconclusive results.
A cynic might suggest that the tobacco industry is behind alot of the attempts to discredit e-cigarettes.
I do believe that research and possibly some form of regulation is required.

When I initially commented I clicked the “Notify me when new comments are added”

Is there any way you can remove people from

I don’t see your comment here. Was it on this post in particular? Happy to help if we can track your comment down.

I have not had a true cig for 6 months now due
to using e cigarettes. I am a supporter of these e cigarettes.
I tell everyone I meet to just Google for e-cigs to check out how well
rooted this industry is, and how gigantic the selection is for
these superb products is. What really gets my goat, though, are
the growing number of posts in the major
press saying how deadly they are. Apparently pharmaceutical companies – the producers of harm reduction smoking
helpers are supporting an anti-e-vape war –
not so much the cigarette companies (as one might think), as
these are putting money into them. I can FEEL the improvements of e cigarettes.
Just arguing – that there is always a secret accord with these self-interested
faceless types trying to prohibit e cigs – our country’s leaders must do a lot more to promoter their use. It makes me depressed. I will be really sorry if they are banned..

Where can I buy an electronic cigarette made and shipped in the US?

Good question. There must be a US manufacturer, surely? I just did a web search for “e-cigarette made in usa” and got several promising leads. Try it for yourself and good luck!
