Huzzah, says several successive generation of gamers, as the new Playstation 4 was finally officially unveiled by Sony yesterday, after months – nay, years – of feverish speculation by the interwebs.

Well, as it turns out, when we say officially unveiled, what we mean is partially unveiled, because Sony hasn’t actually finished building it yet. Cue further feverish speculation on the interwebs. Hey, it’s what the interwebs is for!

Will it ultimately have the Wii and the Xbox quaking in their moulded plastic housings? Only time will tell. For now, enjoy this nifty infographic!

Sony PS Vita vs Nintendo 3DS – an annotated graphic

Sony’s financial woes and lacklustre sales continue, as the company admits that its PS Vita games console has not been the runaway success it hoped it would be. Even more galling, when compared to arch-rivals Nintendo’s 3DS handheld system, the numbers are way off for Sony, with 2.9 million Vitas sold compared to 20.5 3DS consoles.

The Japanese tech behemoth hopes a slew of quality new games due for release shortly will revitalise the Vita’s rep and attract new gamers.

The Sony CEO leadership change was announced a couple of weeks ago, but we’ve just found this helpful graphic down the back of our virtual sofa, so thought we’d share it now.  The Sony share price has “enjoyed” quite the rollercoaster ride over the past seven years, eh?

Time will tell if Kazuo Hirai can stabilise the company in the wake of outgoing Sony CEO, Sir Howard Stringer.

Sony Tablet S and Tablet P vs the Apple iPad – an annotated graphic

Sony has announced its first tablet computers, destined to go head-to-head with Apple’s super soaraway market leader, the iPad2. Sony’s Tablet S is a full-screen wedge-shaped design, like a folded magazine. Tablet P is a dual-screen device, kind of like a posh Nintendo Game and Watch. They look nice, but they’re no iPad, eh? Good thing/bad thing: discuss, using one side of the paper only.
