It’s official: Dr Ian McHale is on fire.
The man has now correctly predicted the results of all five games that we’ve featured so far. Astonishing. I feel a guest spot on MOTD2 must surely be only a few games away, if he can keep this up. Can anyone now seriously doubt the power of statistics?
Today we turn our predicting panel’s attention to the matter of Honduras vs Chile. Does anyone know anything about Honduras or Chile? No, us neither. Your correspondent went to Honduras once. It seemed nice, if a bit run down. Good snorkelling around the coral reefs on the Caribbean shores. Didn’t make it to Chile. Turned around after the Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia.
Anyway, back to the matter in hand. Providing Dr Ian hasn’t happy slapped himself in to a stupor with all the high-fiving he’ll have been doing following his accurate prediction of an interminable draw between Ivory Coast and Portugal yesterday, we assume he’ll be on the edge of his seat for Honduras vs Chile (someone’s got to be) as he aims to make it six of the statistical best.
Here are today’s predictions from our panel:
- Dr Ian McHale, a Senior Lecturer in Statistics at the University of Salford: “Another draw.”
- David Williams, head of PR at Ladbrokes: “Chile to win”.
- Chris Day, goalkeeper for Stevenage FC: “3-1 to Chile″.
- Laura Daligan, ‘psychic, artist and pin-up’: “I feel that the two countries are very close, in playing style and geography. They have a similar history and I expect local rivalry to play a part. Chile seem the stronger of the two, so I think they will just edge past Honduras today.”
