E&T World Cup blog: the big predictions smackdown

As promised, here’s a nice bar graph to illustrate the success of our World Cup predicting panel thus far.

Dr Ian is out in front with eight correct predictions, propelled in to the lead by his blistering start of five correct in a row.

Footballer Chris Day is right behind him on seven, resident psychic Laura Daligan close behind with six and Ladbrokes’ David Williams bringing up the rear with five.

Football is, as we all know, a funny game and extending the metaphor a stage further, this World Cup has been hilarious so far. Bye bye France, Italy and England. Hello Uruguay, Japan and Slovakia. So it’s no surprise that what we think we know about the beautiful game has gone routinely out of the window.
