E&T March 2011 issue out now

Our March issue is a future car special. Car companies have turned a corner to see light at the end of what has been a very dark tunnel. Car design is exciting again and anything seems possible. The Jaguar C-X75 isn’t quite a Batmobile with flames shooting out the back but it is jet-powered and looks pretty amazing. New York is daring to redesign its iconic taxi – in any colour you like as long as it’s yellow. We report – in words and video – on the optimism and issues at this year’s Detroit Motor Show. Check out some clever concepts for city electric cars and plans to generate solar power from roads.
E&T features editor Vitali Vitaliev goes under the hood of the Large Hadron Collider at CERN for the latest E&T podcast. Dr David Evans explains what the LHC has revealed so far and the crucial role of fishing line.
See a clever search and rescue robot from Warwick University students in our latest video, and have your say in our debate on the kind of bonuses engineers could only dream about.
