Android mobile TV games subscription service launched

PC and mobile gaming provider Exent and consumer electronics provider Vestel announced at IBC 2011 that they have teamed up to launch the world’s first all-you-can-eat Android TV game subscription service. Slovakian student wins Electrolux Design Contest with Portable Spot Cleaner

Slovakian student Adrian Mankovecký has won first place in the 2011 Electrolux Design Lab competition finals at the Room Home Intelligence Conference, held this week at London’s Business Design Centre. Mankovecký, who studies at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, Slovakia, took the top prize with his design concept the Portable Spot Cleaner, after beating 1,300 entrants from over 50 countries. Motorola new statistical multiplexer improves video quality by up to 20 per cent

Motorola Mobility has announced the launch at IBC 2011 of a closed-loop statistical multiplexer (statmux) which it says can improve bandwidth efficiency and video quality by to 20 per cent. The statmux incorporates the Motorola SE-6000 encoder with Motorola’s perceptual video processing (PVP) and DM-6400 CherryPicker application platform. By incorporating PVP with Motorola’s unique compression algorithms, Motorola says the SE-6000 encoder is capable of improving video quality by up to 20 per cent, or achieving the same video quality with a 20 per cent savings of bandwidth required. Colorfront launches On-Set Live at IBC 2011

Colorfront has launched On-Set Live!, its new system capable of real-time dual-stream stereo processing for multi-camera and stereo 3D shows, at IBC 2011. Budapest-based DI and postproduction company Colorfront has based On-Set Live! on its successful On-Set Dailies digital dailies system and offers dual channel HD-SDI video inputs and outputs for 2D, stereo 3D, or two-camera 2D capture, with 3D LUT support, color space conversion and calibration.
