Japan’s military aspirations – missile defence radars and new Osprey aircraft

A brace of graphics today about Japan’s most recent military posturing.

First up, we look at how the Japanese is installing its second missile defence radar, most likely to counter China’s growing military power.

We then analyse the new American tiltrotor aircraft, the MV-22 Osprey, which Tokyo has declared safe for deployment. Helicopters that morph into aircraft? Life imitating art, in an homage to Transformers, perhaps.
