Mangalyaan, India’s mission to Mars – an annotated graphic

It’s getting crowded out there on Mars. As if myriad Rovers traversing the Red Planet’s surface weren’t enough, now every Tom, Dick and Harri are sending interplanetary craft (Carpenters music optional) in its direction.

The latest nation state to fling some space hardware Mars-wards is India. Its Mangalyaan Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) will perform a 160-day study of the planet as it orbits in an elliptical journey. If all goes well, more MOMs will follow.

  1. Its surprising to see such statements when India sends a an orbiter to Mars : –
    – It’s getting crowded out there on Mars
-every Tom, Dick and Harri are sending interplanetary craft

It sounds like someone , with no knowledge or even slightest idea of the technology that is needed to send such craft , have written this article. It looks likes every Tom, Dick and Harri have started writing articles in such technological advances.

    1. On the whole, this blog is a light-hearted look at big engineering and technology projects, putting out often highly technical information in – at times – a populist fashion, for a broad audience, some of whom will have no knowledge or even slightest idea of the technology that is needed. No offence is intended. Thanks for stopping by.
