50 years ago today, in February 1964, The Beatles landed at New York’s JFK airport to wave for the first time at thousands of screaming American fans, before going on to charm the pants off the assembled American media scrum awaiting their arrival with curiosity.
Two days later, The Beatles played live on the Ed Sullivan show. Bingo bango, game over. The Beatles had won.
