Wakey wakey, eggs and bakey for comet-chaser #Rosetta – an annotated infographic

German spacecraft controllers have today woken up the Philae lander carried by the European comet-chaser Rosetta to start preparations for the attempted landing on the body of Comet 67P in November, the first such mission of its kind. The operation conducted from the control room of the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) in Cologne saw the controllers beaming up new software to Rosetta, hurtling through the space more than 650 million km away from the Earth. Rosetta’s on-board computers then used the software to wake up the Philae lander and forward its eagerly awaited response to the Earth. Malaysia Airlines flight #MH370 – what we know so far – an annotated infographic

With the focus of the flight MH370 search mission now centred around the floating debris in the southern Indian Ocean, a consensus of opinion about the events leading up to the plane’s mysterious disappaerance is coalescing around known facts. The plane took off. Its transponder was disabled. Military radars show the aircraft turning sharply to the west, then north. Satellite data indicates the plane was still flying seven hours after losing contact with air traffic control. No response was received at the next scheduled contact time. The big question begged by all these facts is: why? We are still waiting … Continue reading Malaysia Airlines flight #MH370 – what we know so far – an annotated infographic

Malaysia Airlines flight #MH370 – debris discovered at sea – an annotated infographic

The first credible lead has surfaced in solving the mysterious disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370. Australian investigators spotted what could possibly be plane debris floating in the southern Indian Ocean, 2,500km south-west of Perth. Testing solar-powered taxi

By Tereza Pultarova Imagine a city powered fully by renewable energy – no microscopic dust in the air, no toxic emissions. Perhaps London could become one such city in the future and it seems it might start with its iconic taxis.
