Here are the numbers. Every year, approximately 150,000 babies are born in refugee camps. Every year, approximately 27,500 of these are likely to die, due to a lack of sufficient incubation. A desire to arrest this horrifying statistic in places already war-torn and unstable is behind this prototype inflatable incubator. MOM is a cheap, electronically controlled device designed to save premature babies by providing a safe space for them to be placed in while they recover and grow.
