Inflatable incubator could help cut #refugees infant mortality – an annotated infographic

Here are the numbers. Every year, approximately 150,000 babies are born in refugee camps. Every year, approximately 27,500 of these are likely to die, due to a lack of sufficient incubation. A desire to arrest this horrifying statistic in places already war-torn and unstable is behind this prototype inflatable incubator. MOM is a cheap, electronically controlled device designed to save premature babies by providing a safe space for them to be placed in while they recover and grow. The World Travel Market 2014 (WTM 2014) that has finished today at the ExCel centre was in full swing on Wednesday 5th. The event began on Monday 3rd November, and the energy that came from the exhibitors was something to be admired.
