To paraphrase The Beatles (hey, if you’re going to steal, steal from the best) it was 20 years ago today that Sony PlayStation taught the world to play.
Sony’s PlayStation video game console – born out of a failed technology partnership with Nintendo – was the first home console to ship 100 million units and one of the first capable of generating 3D graphics.
Ahead of this weekend’s massive PS Experience event in Las Vegas, we look back at the inaugural PlayStation console that started it all, at its technical specifications and history.
If nothing else, it gives Sony an opportunity to be in the news for something other than those GOP cyber hack attacks.
