Africa’s Kariba Dam at risk of collapse – an annotated infographic

Work is underway to repair the Kariba Dam between Zambia and Zimbabwe, which is at risk of collapse due to eroding foundations.

Many problems are facing French engineering firm Razel-Bec, which is repairing the dam. The dam was first opened in 1959 and is holding back 180 billion cubic metres of water. We’d better hope the fix holds, eh?
