Farnborough Airshow preview – real-life Iron Man Jet Suit; Boeing vs Airbus – two annotated infographics #FIA18

At the forthcoming Farnborough International Airshow, British inventor and entrepreneur Richard Browning and his team from Gravity Industries will be giving an aerial demonstration of the Gravity Jet Suit. The $250,000 Gravity Jet Suit has more horse power than a Formula 1 car. Small jet engines mounted on each arm and behind the suit’s back can produce 144kg of thrust to achieve vertical take-off and flight. Using his body as the airframe, Richard’s arms control speed, thrust and direction. Former Royal Marine Reservist Richard Browning founded Gravity Industries in April 2017. Since then the company has grown rapidly and he … Continue reading Farnborough Airshow preview – real-life Iron Man Jet Suit; Boeing vs Airbus – two annotated infographics #FIA18

Singapore to test done delivery system with help from Airbus – an annotated infographic

To explore how delivery drones could be used, Singapore has turned to Airbus to test a drone delivery service. #Airbus Perlan II glider aims for new heights and rare scientific data – an annotated infographic

The Airbus-sponsored Perlan II mission is in Argentina for a second year of flight operations in a bid to set a new glider altitude record by riding so-called “mountain waves” created by powerful gusts of wind over the Andes Mountains. The team hopes to reach a height of 16,700 metres using a custom-built pressurized sailplane – breaking the current glider record set by Perlan I in 2006 – while also gathering valuable scientific data on high altitude flight and climate change. Airbus to fit deployable flight data recorders – an annotated infographic

Airbus will fit new fixed and deployable combined flight data and voice recorders as standard on long-range aircraft starting in 2019 in a bid to make it easier to find aircraft wreckage in the event of an accident over the sea. Honestly, given the significant loss of life in on-water plane crashes, you have to wonder how this has been so long in coming. Where on earth is Flight MH370? L3 Aviation Products will design and manufacture a lighter and more compact fixed, crash-protected cockpit voice and data recorder (CVDR), which will be able to record up to 25 hours … Continue reading Airbus to fit deployable flight data recorders – an annotated infographic
