New rules introduced for the 2018 Formula 1 season are relatively few in number, but of some significance, such as a new driver ‘halo’ protection system and softer, faster tyres. The Formula One 2018 season takes place over 21 races with the first March 25, 2018. Shark Fins and T-wings banned. Introduction of Halo cockpit protection device. Three engines per season limit. #F1 technical changes 2015 – an annotated infographic

In-house squabbles, financial battles and the incumbent Ecclestone’s belligerence notwithstanding, the F1 juggernaut keeps on rolling round the world. As the new race season hoves in to view, so does the annual list of new tech regs, designed to test the ability of the assembled teams and push them to their engineering creative limits. A new nose shape (for the cars, not the team engineers, naturally) is the standout feature this year, but some monkeying about with the suspension, car weight, engines and more will also be required. Starting in Melbourne and finishing in Sao Paulo, Brazil, teams and drivers have approximately eight months to prove to the world who has engineered the best cars.
