Next Apple #iPhone to have curved glass edges and choice of screen sizes – an annotated graphic

A 21st-century day just wouldn’t feel complete without an Apple iPhone rumour, so without further ado here’s a new one to chew on: iPhones with curved glass edges. Ooh, and a choice of screen sizes, too. Just like, err, arch-rivals Samsung’s product range (those guys are back in court again…). Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we hereby present to you the Apple iPhablet. Possibly. Apparently frustrated at the visible bezel around the iPhone screen edge, Apple is rumoured to be working on curved-glass edges to rid their flagship mopho of unsightly edges. Presumably visible bezels are the tech design equivalent of … Continue reading Next Apple #iPhone to have curved glass edges and choice of screen sizes – an annotated graphic

New #Apple iPhones under consideration – an annotated graphic

Whilst this is all pure conjecture, people are positing Apple’s next move to a range of cheaper, smaller iPhones in the battle for marketplace supremacy vs arch-rival Samsung. Given Apple’s preference for premium products, it seems unlikely that we’ll see a $99 plastic iPhone – that would be even cheaper than an iPod touch. Then again, looking at the colour concept in the graphic here and looking at the new graphic style of iOS7, the two would seem to go together nicely. If it happens, you’ll find us at the head of the queue. Who could resist one at a … Continue reading New #Apple iPhones under consideration – an annotated graphic

Apple hits the skids – market share down, share price down

OMG! The polish is off Apple’s crown. It finally happened. Well, we say finally, but we’re old enough to still remember the days when Apple wasn’t the technological tastemaker it is now and was requiring of a $10 million loan from Microsoft just to stay afloat. Imagine such a thing happening now. Without the help of Bill Gates, maybe no iPod, maybe no iPhone, maybe no iPad. And definitely no Surface, arf! Never mind the “Redmond, start your photocopiers” jibes, though – Apple insiders knew the real score. Anyhoo, all this is just our way of saying enjoy this infographic, … Continue reading Apple hits the skids – market share down, share price down

Smart phone conflict metals – an annotated graphic

With the world positively agog at the release by Apple of its iPhone 5, and with similar gadgets from the likes of Nokia and Samsung wowing the masses lately, it seemed an apposite moment to share this graphic about the issue of conflict minerals potentially used in their production. The Securities and Exchange Commission has ruled that companies like Apple must scrutinise the sources of four metals used in the production of such shiny high-tech trinkets and baubles as the iPhone 5, in order to determine that human rights abuses are not being committed during their mining. Tin, Tantalum, Gold … Continue reading Smart phone conflict metals – an annotated graphic

Apple iPhone 5 – an annotated graphic

Hell yeah, we’re more than happy to jump on the iPhone 5 bandwagon and ride those shiny high-tech Cupertino rails all the way in to the Web 2.0 sunset. Today’s graphic is concerned with what well-informed folk on the interwebs (or “gossips”, as we used to call them last century) believe the iPhone 5 will deliver. New display, new casing material, various holes moved about a bit, that sort of thing. Naturally, we’re disappointed at the iPhone still not being a hover phone and the less said about the absence of a toothpick and a tool for getting stones out … Continue reading Apple iPhone 5 – an annotated graphic

Apple Q4 results – an annotated graphic

What would Steve do? For the first time in six years, Apple has missed its own voraciously high  sales expectations. Believe you me, your correspondent worked for Apple for a while earlier this century (pre-iPhone, if you can even remember such a time, what an age we live in, etc) and Apple always set aggressively ambitious sales targets for every month of the year. Even in February, the retail graveyard month! Of course, in the crazy world of stockholders,  announcing that you’re not going to achieve your own self-set high standards is a cue for capricious market lenders to decide … Continue reading Apple Q4 results – an annotated graphic
