Spectre, the 24th official Bond movie, is rumoured to have cost $350m to produce, making it one of the most expensive films ever made and totalling more than the budgets of the first nine Bond movies combined. It better be good, that’s all we can say. #SPECTRE could be @007 James Bond’s last film for Sony Pictures – an annotated infographic

After the UK premiere and nationwide opening of Spectre on October 26, the James Bond franchise will be open to the highest bidder, as the four-movie distribution deal between Sony Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer expires. Given that each of the most recent Bond films has made an incredible amount of money – Skyfall being one of a very select number of films to trouser £100 million at the UK box office alone (look at the bar graph below!) – you can expect the competition for the rights to be fierce. #Skylab space station launched 40 years ago – an annotated graphic

May 14, 1973: America launched its first space station, Skylab. June 29, 1979: James Bond’s first space adventure Moonraker opened in cinemas. This is not a coincidence. July 11, 1979: NASA plans to boost Skylab to a higher orbit using the snazzy new Space Shuttle, but that project gets delayed and Skylab ultimately disintegrates on re-entry to the earth’s atmosphere, raining debris down on the peculiarly Scottish-sounding Balladonia region of Western Australia.
